Run a command prompt as a different user, runas /user:

We’ve all been there. You go to a users pc, and you always need administrative rights to fix the problem 😦

To log in as yourself on a user pc, use runas, when you are good with cmd, this is your baby.

  1. Start
  2. Run
  3. Runas /user:emeafs\first.last cmd
  4. Enter your password.

A cmd prompt will open, from there you can launch any program you like.

For example: “c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplorer.exe” http://kgbcse04/exchange

You can pretty much do anything you like from the command prompt

Common Windows tools.

  • To launch computer management: compmgmt.msc.
  • To launch services management: services.msc.
  • To launch system properties: sysdm.cpl.
  • To launch add remove programs: appwiz.cpl.
  • To launch msconfig: start msconfig
  • To launch taskmgr.exe: taskmgr.exe > Very handy if the user cant kill a service under their credentials.
  • To launch windows version: winver
